Recommended EtherCAT and Ethernet Communications Cables
Use a straight STP (shielded twisted-pair) cable of category 5 or higher with double shielding (aluminum tape and braiding) for EtherCAT. Use an STP (shielded twistedpair) cable of category 5 or higher for Ethernet. Products for Ethernet 100BASE-TX described in the table below can be used for both 100BASE-TX and 10BASE-T.
